Our Beginnings

Moving from DuPage to Carroll County in 2006, we (Jeff and Karen Davis) happily settled into country life in rural Mount Carroll. Jeff still works for Davis Custom Decorators pursuing his dream job of over 30 years. Karen, on the other hand, spent her first few years in Carroll County serving in assorted parttime and seasonal positions, until the fall of 2011.

On the suggestion from an acquaintance in the Spring of 2011, we eventually investigated the possibilities of entering the world of commercial embroidery. As part of that process, in October, Karen met with the current owner of a local embroidery shop. A few days later, Karen shadowed the owner learning the basics of the embroidery business. After investigating the feasibility of purchasing the existing embroidery business, Jeff and Karen made an offer to purchase this embroidery business on contract. In January 2012, Red Gate Embroidery was born and has been serving the area from their shop conveniently located in downtown Mount Carroll, IL. We are a woman owned boutique business and we welcome the opportunity to serve you in meeting your business branding needs.
